Aviation officials eye upgrade despite new US concerns

US OFFICIALS have raised additional concerns about the state of Philippine aviation but these can be considered minor, government officials yesterday said as they raised the possibility of an upgrade later this year.

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said the United States Federal Aviation Authority (FAA), in a report issued following a technical review last January, had noted 22 considerations that mostly involve procedures and training.

“There were around 20 findings, but most of them are minor because they are now being addressed,” CAAP Director-General Ramon S. Gutierrez told reporters.
