Aircraft parts factory to rise in Clark

CLARK FREEPORT ZONE — Jamco America, Inc., a supplier of Airbus and Boeing aircraft interior engineering solutions, has reportedly pledged to invest P172 million for a parts factory here.

The manufacturer’s local arm Jamco Phils., Inc., recently signed a lease deal with an industrial estate for manufacturing and servicing facility, Clark Development Corp. (CDC) President Felipe Antonio B. Remollo said in a statement.

The local unit is a joint venture between Japanese and American investors.

The parts will be exported to Europe, North America and Asia, Mr. Remollo said.

Research and development operations will also be conducted at the site, he said.

To support this project, private companies from Germany, Austria and Japan will be teaming up to develop fuselage structures for new planes including Airbus’ next-generation aircraft.

The firm is said to be the sole supplier of carbon composite components for stringers and stiffeners for vertical tail planes of all Airbus aircraft.

In a related development, an Australian firm has similarly pledged to invest P50 million for a vintage vehicle restoration facility also inside the free port zone.

Mr. Remollo said the Byrnes Motor Trust Restoration, Inc., signed a new sub-lease agreement as well.

Mr. Remollo said the restoration project will involve the importation of all kinds of old cars, jeeps, pickups and components for refurbishment, restoration, conversion and repair.

The firm will import old cars from Australia, North America, Asia and Europe.

These will then be reexported back to Australia, the firm’s key market, and other countries.

In Australia, owners of vintage and old cars prefer their cars restored as close to original as possible.

Mr. Remollo said Byrnes Motors will employ 85 highly skilled workers for the restoration project in Clark.
