Intel Cuts Its Outlook

Intel Corp. warned its fourth-quarter revenue will fall about $1 billion below its own targets, making the technology company the latest to pin lower sales on supply disruptions caused by flooding in Thailand.

The semiconductor giant and tech bellwether insisted demand for personal computers is healthy, but said revenue will decline because PC manufacturers are curbing production of machines that will be sold early next year.

Months of heavy rains in Thailand have dismantled or damaged a large chunk of the world’s hard-drive manufacturing operations. That has slowed the production of PCs, most of which run on Intel’s processors.
