PRESS RELEASE

The Joint Foreign Chambers will host the Arangkada Workshop Turning the Philippines into a Tiger Economy on December 6 in Makati City. The Workshop will evaluate the recommendations of the JFC advocacy paper one year after its publication. Prospects for developing the high potential for growth and job creation in the Seven Big Winner Sectors: Agribusiness, Creative Industries, Information Technology-Business Process Outsourcing, Infrastructure, Manufacturing and Logistics, Mining, and Tourism, Medical Travel, and Retirement will be discussed.

Nearly 300 participants, about one-third from various public sector offices, and two-thirds from the local and foreign investment community, business associations, and media are expected.

President Aquino has been invited as a keynote speaker to address the administration’s reforms in building the Philippines as the region’s newest “tiger” economy.

Arangkada Philippines 2010: A Business Perspective contains 471 recommendations from Filipino and foreign investors for building a more competitive economy leading to high growth and job creation. It documents a path for the Philippines to become a middle-income economy with robust investment levels, high levels of job creation, modern infrastructure, and rising government revenues to pay for enhanced social services.
