Mr. Shigeru Shimoda is the President of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Philippines, Inc. Concurrently, he serves as the President and CEO of Marubeni Philippines Corporation, one of the largest Japanese conglomerates operating in the Philippines, since April 2020. Mr. Shimoda joined Marubeni Corporation of Japan in 1988, commencing his career in the Wood Chip Section, where he rose from the ranks, and assumed the role of General Manager of the Wood Chip & Construction Materials Dept. (renamed to Wood Chip & Biomass Fuel Dept.) in 2018 before his assignment in the Philippines. Mr. Shimoda was instrumental in the establishment and success of the PT. Musi Hutan Persada, an industrial forest plantation company, in South Sumatra, Indonesia. During his tenure as its President Director from 2005 to 2008 and from 2014 to 2018, he led the development of 120,000 hectares of Eucalyptus tree plantation. Mr. Shimoda graduated from Keio University, Tokyo, Japan in March 1988 with a degree in Economics.
