A BICAMERAL PANEL yesterday concluded discussions on the P1.816-trillion 2012 budget, paving the way for Congress’ final approval today.
Leaders of both chambers said they were confident the harmonized bill would be ratified on schedule by the Senate and House of Representatives.
Details of the final 2012 proposal, however, were not disclosed pending the signing of a report by all members of the joint committee.
“The bicameral report is done. Signing and ratification will be [on Tuesday],” Senator Franklin M. Drilon said.
Cavite Rep. Joseph Emilio A. Abaya (1st district), said: “Both heads of… the budget bicameral conference committee are confident that there will be signing [by committee members on Tuesday] afternoon and ratification [by the chamber] in the afternoon.”
He said a “middle ground” had been reached on the contentious issue of the Miscellaneous Personnel Benefit Fund.
President Benigno S. C. Aquino III is scheduled to sign the budget bill into law by Dec. 15.
