Megawide Construction Corp. said it remains adherent to applicable laws in the operation of the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) following alleged violation by its directors and officers of the Anti-Dummy Law.
“Megawide and its subsidiaries have always been and continue to be firmly adherent to all applicable laws, rules, and regulations, particularly regarding public-private partnership projects such as the Mactan-Cebu International Airport,” Megawide said in a statement yesterday.
The Department of Justice (DOJ) recently recommended the filing of complaints for violation of the Anti-Dummy Law against board officers and members of GMR Megawide Cebu Airport Corp. (GMCAC) in connection with the award of a P14.4-billion concession deal to a consortium that is not totally Filipino-owned.
GMCAC is a joint venture company of Filipino engineering and infrastructure company Megawide and Indian infrastructure developer GMR.
It took over development of all landside facilities of the MCIA in November 2014 under a 25-year public-private partnership concession agreement with the government.
Megawide said it has not received any official documents pertaining to the filing of criminal charges against the directors and officers of GMCAC for the alleged violation of the Anti-Dummy Law.
“Rest assured that we will respond to this case in the proper fora, and do so successfully,” the company said.
