THE ROLLOUT of public-private partnership (PPP) deals could be held up as the new Transportation secretary has called for a review of his department’s plans and programs.
“The question is how much is the government going to support it … that’s the kind of assessment that will happen in each of the PPP [deals],” Transportation Secretary Manuel A. Roxas II said after taking his oath of office yesterday.
The government has said it could offer as many as 12 PPP projects this year but so far none are in the advanced stages. Of the projects, seven are under the Department of Transportation and Communications (DoTC), including the P15-billion operation and maintenance contract for Metro Manila’s Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 1 and Metro Rail Transit (MRT) Line 3.
