Attached is a copy of Senate Ctte. Rpt. 53 on the bill creating the Department of Information and Communications Technology filed on August 11, 2011. CR 53 is scheduled to be sponsored in plenary this week by Sen. Edgardo Angara. The House version was approved on Second Reading last August 8 but approval was re-considered. The House bill is currently pending on Second Reading.
The creation of the DICT is one of Arangkada’s headline recommendations that would help strengthen the IT-BPO industry with a more robust legal framework.
