Senate shuffles committee chairmanships

After completing the latest leadership change that installed as new Senate President Francis Escudero, senators on Wednesday voted to install a new set of chairmen for the standing committees

The new committee chiefs are:

Former Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri for Economic Affairs;

Senator Mark Villar for government corporations and public enterprises;

Senator Alan Peter Cayetano for TRADE AND INDUSTRY;

Senator Pia Cayetano for ENERGY; Senator Grace Poe for FINANCE;

Senator Alan Peter Cayetano for HIGHER, TECHNICAL AND VOCATIONAL EDUCATION;

Senator Sonny Angara for JUSTICE AND HUMAN RIGHTS;

Senator Nancy Binay for SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS;

Senator JV Ejercito for LOCAL GOVERNMENT;

Senator Joel Villanueva for LABOR AND EMPLOYMENT;

Senator Raffy Tulfo for PUBLIC SERVICES;

Senator Lito Lapid for TOURISM;

Senator Imee Marcos for URBAN PLANNING, HOUSING AND RESETTLEMENT;

Senator Francis Tolentino for ETHICS; and

Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada for the REGIONAL COMPREHENSIVE ECONOMIC PARTNERSHIP oversight committee.

Senators Loren Legarda and Sherwin Gatchalian did not resign from their posts as chairmen of the Committee on Culture and the Arts and on Basic Education and Ways and Means, respectively.
