Technical report backs up SONA claims: Palace

This is an article repost.

THE PALACE has released details of its achievements — broadly tackled in the State of the Nation Address (SONA) — which were described as good governance measures that have resulted in economic value.

The SONA Technical Report was prepared by the Presidential Management Staff with inputs from the various Cabinet secretaries.

It was posted on the government’s official gazette (http://www.gov.ph) on Monday evening after President Benigno S. C. Aquino III had delivered his speech.

Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said yesterday that “[t]he more substantive portion of the speech can be found in the SONA technical report,” and that detractors of the President should view details of the report.

“We have to emphasize the fact that our program of government is twofold, we are going to reduce poverty and we are going to eradicate graft and corruption…,” said Mr. Lacierda in a Palace briefing.

“We’ve already laid out our plans. We promised that there will be jobs generated. We promised that we are going to invest in people through CCT (conditional cash transfer), housing, education, health… We have this much to offer and we will deliver on our promises.”

The report itself states that the accomplishments are a triumph of good governance, with eradicating corruption seen as “the key approach to development.”

“Through the living examples of our leaders, led by the President, this reawakened sense of right and wrong continues to be translated to economic value,” the report stated. — JPDP
