The Philippine agriculture department has set a so-called ‘palay support price’ of P19 per kilo to help local farmers cope with falling prices due to the surge of imported rice. In this interview with #ANCEarlyEdition, DA secretary William Dar explains that they will buy rice from local farmers at P19 from the current farmgate price of P17. The department is also set to announce a tariff increase on imported rice.
